Subject: Further to SEFAN:2007-06-13:02 concerning the Licensing Act 2003
Dear Network

Steve Heap of FAE rang me today, further to my enqiries over live music, private parties and Licensing.

Steve has been sitting on the Live Music Forum and the results of that investigation are due to be published in July

Preempting this, however , the MU has posted a  "comprehensive report and outline of Union policy on the Licensing Act 2003 in advance of the publication of the Live Music Forum’s Report (LMF) into the legislation" on it's website..

Hamish Birchall has now left the MU and his summary (first bulletined in 2003) Steve informs me is now seriously out of date. I have therefore removed it from the Bulletinboard page on the SEFAN website.
__________

Steve agreed that the advice from Susi Mulligan, Chairman, Wolds Collective is pretty sound (apart from using "PEL" - which he says
no longer exists. That's actually called a "Premises Licence" these days).

He did however, suggest that we should advise all private enquirers to give notice to their Local Authority of any musical event where alcohol is served, and let the Local (or District ) Council  rule on the need to apply for a TENs or not.

all the best
